Loudness Normalization for a Consistent Show

A show whose episodes jump in volume from one week to the next drives listeners to the volume knob and eventually away. Loudness normalization sets every episode to the same perceived level, a simple fix with a big payoff.

Normalize the final mix in three steps.

1. Measure the integrated loudness of the finished episode.
2. Apply gain to hit your target, usually minus sixteen LUFS.
3. Re-check the true peak to keep it under minus one dB.
